After four separate incidents in the Denver downtown area, authorities caught the suspect, Elijah Caudill, on Monday, 13, 2025. A press release by the Denver Police Department paints a grizzly picture of the weekend events leading to the suspects arrest.
According to the press release, Caudill's alleged stabbing spree started at approximately 5:12 pm on Saturday. All of the incidents took place near the 16th Street Mall. The first victim was an adult male, and while we don't know the full extent of his injuries, we know he took himself to hospital without assistance. The victim has non-life-threatening injuries.
Unfortunately, the second victim was not so lucky. Caudill allegedly stabbed a woman at roughly 5:17 pm, who died of her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after, at around 5:54 pm, the suspect attacked a third victim, another adult male. Emergency Services transported the man to hospital with serious injuries, although the press release says doctors expect him to survive.
Caudill allegedly attacked another person in the area with a knife on Sunday at around 8:06 pm. Authorities rushed the adult male victim to hospital, but he was pronounced deceased.
Police Were Looking For The 24-Year-Old On Sunday
The press release explains that Denver Police officers were looking for the suspect after the three incidents on Saturday. The officers reportedly identified a man fitting the description, 'running with a knife.' The police officers gave chase and took Caudill into custody. Authorities found the fourth victim just after the arrest.
According to the police, the suspect's motives are unclear, and there doesn't seem to be any connection between the attacker and his victims. The press release concludes that Caudill is being held under investigation for first-degree murder, the first-degree murder of an elder, and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
According to the New York Post, Caudill has an extensive criminal record. Charges include four failure-to-appear warrants for misdemeanor arrests in 2024. Those misdemeanors include attempted robbery, assault, and criminal mischief.
