22 Injured, Four Hospitalized at Australian Music Festival
According to a November 1 report from PEOPLE, four individuals were hospitalized after a stand holding "hundreds" of people collapsed. The incident occurred at the Red Hot Summer Tour near Marine Parade, Coolangatta, on Australia's Gold Coast. Queensland police told the outlet in a statement.
"It's understood that, because of the incident, 22 people were treated for minor injuries. And four people were transported to hospital," they said.
The four individuals who were transported to the hospital included two women and two men. They were treated for an injured collarbone, an injured ankle, and two back injuries, according to Nine News (PEOPLE).
Gavin Fuller, senior operations supervisor for the Queensland Ambulance Service, told the outlet that most of the injuries were caused by "shock" from the stand collapsing. He also said that the individuals were "lucky" that the injuries were not "more serious," in addition to more people not being injured.
