26 Killed, More Than 20 Injured in Mass Shooting at Rural Texas Church

At least 26 people were killed, and more than 20 were injured in a mass shooting inside a church in the small Texas town of Sutherland Springs on Sunday.

According to reports, the gunman walked into the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, opened fire on parishioners and fled the scene. Police killed the gunman during a pursuit in nearby Guadalupe County.

The victims include a number of children and at least one pregnant woman. The pastor's 14-year-old daughter was among the victims. Multiple injured are currently being treated in nearby hospitals.

The New York Times reports the gunman has been identified as Devin P. Kelley, 26, of Comal County.

Sutherland Springs is located roughly 35 miles West of San Antonio, Texas. The town has roughly 350 residents, one gas station and a post office.
