Gun Tragedies
This incident took place a few weeks after a 4-year-old in Florida tragically shot himself while playing with a gun misplaced in his parents' vehicle's driver's seat. Chosen Morris, on Saturday, February 22, was ready to get pizza with his family. Feeling excited, he entered the family vehicle and waited for the rest of the family to join him.
That's when he found a Smith & Wesson M&P.40 caliber in the driver's seat, according to police. Morris probably thought that the gun was a toy, and started playing with it. Meanwhile, his family was busy in the other rooms of the house. His father, Robert Morris, who owned the gun, was in the bathroom,as per ABC News. His mother, Quinta, was in her bedroom.
Quinta then, all of a sudden, heard a loud "pop." Thinking her children had broken something, she went on to check on them all. She only found her 7-year-old son and her 11-year-old daughter in the living. Chosen was nowhere to be found. That's when Quinta noticed that the garage door was open and, after entering the garage, she stumbled into the heartbreaking and tragic scene. Her son, Chosen Morris, had accidentally shot himself in the head.
Both Robert and Quinta rushed Chosen Morris to the hospital but, unfortunately, was pronounced dead upon arrival. Reportedly, Morris had left the gun at the vehicle on Thursday, leaving it there for days until the tragedy struck. At the time of the original reporting, no charges were filed against the parents, but it was a possibility.
