According to a report by CBS News, the incident occurred at around 6 PM on Church Road near Meadow Road in Winnetka, Illinois. Authorities say that a car was traveling south on Church Road and hit two women pushing a baby in a stroller. Employees from the nearby Indian Hill Club heard the collision and tried to help, but their assistance was in vain.

One woman reportedly died at the scene, while another died shortly after emergency services transported her to a local hospital. The outlet explains that authorities also took the baby to the hospital, where they remain in critical condition. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were also hurt in the collision. Emergency services took them both to hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Cook County Sheriff's Office reportedly told the outlet that there is no sign of foul play, and an investigation is ongoing.

CBS spoke to a local resident, Mia Sachs, who explained that the area is a family neighborhood. "There are a lot of young kids running around all the time," she said. "I think everyone is in shock. And incredibly sad, it's a tragedy," she added. Sachs also explained that families stopped near the roadside to add flowers to a memorial. "Our community wants to help in any way that we can. There's been an outpouring of, 'What can we do?' And really, at this point, we've only been told they just need prayers. So, that is what everyone is doing," she said.

Medical Examiners Have Confirmed The Identities Of Both Women

Per ABC 7, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the identity of both victims at Sediqeh Samadi, 37, and Raziyeh Sigary, 58. It's unknown if they are related to each other or the infant. The outlet also explains that it's unclear what caused the crash or if mechanical, medical, or driver errors were involved. Abbott Laboratories in Chicago confirmed one of its employees died in the crash.
