2 people have died and another 10 were injured after a bus overturned on the Long Island Expressway. As reported by the New York Post, the tragic incident happened at around 11:45pm local time on June 29.
The bus was travelling west when it collided with two vehicles near Greenpoint Avenue. It proceeded to flip over the divider, hitting another two vehicles.
The tragic incident caused a heavy response from emergency personnel. The Fire Department of New York confirmed that 79 fire and emergency services workers responded to the scene.
The two people who tragically died in the crash were identified as the bus driver and a passenger.
As for the injured, 3 were in critical condition, whereas 7 had minor injuries. 24 others were also taken to a number of hospitals as a precaution following the incident. These were confirmed to be bus passengers.
According to NBC News, the bus was taking Royal Jordanian Airlines crewmembers to JFK Airport. Royal Jordanian later confirmed in a statement that it was "closely following developments in coordination with the relevant authorities and will continue to monitor the condition of the injured and provide them with the necessary support."

Further Details of the Overturned Bus Victims Were Later Released
More details regarding the victims of the tragic crash were later released, as reported by ABC 7 Eyewitness News.
The dead passenger was confirmed to be 42-year-old Moad Farid Mohd Obaidat of New York.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the bus driver had seven previous arrests for crimes including burglary and sexual abuse. His name has not currently been released.
He also had moving violations attached to his driver's license, including speeding, disobeying a traffic control device and dangerous driving. However, none of these were received during his tenure as a professional driver.
Other to these developments, the reasons behind the crash and other associated factors are still not very clear at the moment. We will sure to keep you updated if anything else about this tragic incident comes to light.
