The first-time mother felt faint and dizzy while she was on her way to get a routine pregnancy scan. This was two days before she and her newborn would die, and doctors sent her back home with medication. Even as she took her medicine, some being antibiotics, she continued to feel more and more unwell.
Newborn And Teen Mom Die Soon After The Other
According to the Daily Mail, Jarman's family called an ambulance after she collapsed in her mother's arms. At this point she wasn't breathing, so paramedics rushed her to Royal Bolton Hospital while attempting to revive her.
Once at the hospital, doctors performed the emergency C-section. They managed to deliver her seven-week-early daughter Athena-Pearl at 12:32 AM last Sunday. Then around 80 minutes later, Jarman died.
A few hours passed, and then around 4 AM, the family heard from the doctors that Athena-Pearl was "deteriorating." 18-year-old Danial Darbyshire, the baby's father, had some time with his newborn daughter before she passed at 6:30 PM.
Steven Darby, Jarman's 32-year-old uncle, spoke to the outlet about how devastated the family was. "She was a healthy 19-year-old with no health complications, so we just can't comprehend what has happened. At the moment, we don't know anything until an investigation determines the full extent of what happened."
Jarman's partner is even more heartbroken by the tragedy. "He doesn't know what to do with himself, which is understandable in these situations - he's lost everything," the uncle said about Darbyshire.
The family has since put out a GoFundMe to aid with the funeral costs. "Please, I ask you to help us lay our beloved girl and her precious baby daughter to rest," the description wrote. "The pain we are enduring is unfathomable. Daniel and Mellodie's family find themselves unprepared, navigating this unimaginable loss while trying to comprehend what lies ahead."
Donators have officially surpassed the family's £7,000 goal and have now raised over £13,500. We currently don't know what caused Jarman and her daughter's devastating deaths. More news may come to light as investigations continue.
