A 16-year-old high school lacrosse star has died from an injury he sustained during a game. He was in hospital for a few days before finally passing. The communities he was a part of are mourning his loss.

On Tuesday, Dylan Veselic, who was the captain of Bay Village High School's lacrosse team, was playing against Olmsted Falls. According to WKYC, the sophomore midfielder got struck in the base of the back of his head "below his helmet." He was attempting to block a shot on the goal.
Cleveland 19 relayed that Veselic was rushed to a local hospital. The next day, he was transferred to another to undergo surgery.
Heartbreakingly, it was Thursday when
his family announced his death. "With heavy hearts, the Veselic family shares the news that Dylan has passed away from injuries suffered during a lacrosse game," they wrote. "We are deeply touched by the overwhelming support and kindness shown by our community and beyond."Veselic's passing affected the local communities in a big way. In
a post shared by Bay Village City School District on Facebook, the community can be seen putting lanterns and lacrosse sticks outside their homes to honor Veslic."We ask that you continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," the statement concluded.
Dylan Veselic Missed By Many
Many people who knew Dylan Veselic have had a lot to say about him and the kind of boy he was.
Jason Martin, the principal of Bay High School
posted a tribute to Facebook. He wrote, "Dylan was a well-liked and respected young man who touched the lives of many with his kindness, character and spirit." Martin then proceeded to extend his "condolences" to the family and his gratitude to the community and his students.Bay High School Athletic Director Matt Spellman also wrote about Veselic on X. Spellman praised Veselic as "an amazing student athlete."
"He was kind, hardworking, and dedicated, consistently showing leadership, empathy, and a positive attitude both on the field and in the classroom."
Speaking to WKYC, Vince McKee of Keyon Sports said "He was a great athlete and a great teammate, also very young, only a sophomore. He had a bright future ahead of him. He was the kind of teammate you wanted to have."
Dylan Veselic will be dearly missed by everyone.
