A 15-year-old Wisconsin boy named Reed Gelinskey has been accused of murdering his mother, Suzanne Gelinskey, on Tuesday, March 4. Reportedly, Gelinskey admitted to the alleged murder when he was arrested and court documents revealed that he was "inspired" by the Netflix documentary about the Menendez Brothers, who infamously murdered both their parents with shotguns.

According to WISN, authorities were alerted by an unidentified female 911 caller. Reportedly, she received a Snapchat message coming from Reed Gelinskey. She was shocked to view an alleged photo of "a female laying face-up on her back," with a pool of blood on the floor. Gelinskey allegedly told her he needed help and that he had stabbed his mother, Suzanne.
As reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Gelinskey was arrested at his Caledonia home located at White Manor Court at around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4. He had a knife on his hand which he dropped in front of police officers. Right then and there, prosecutors allege that Gelinskey admitted to the killing by saying "She is dead" and "She is dead from what I did." He also asked police officers to kill him.
The Documentary
According to a criminal complaint obtained by WISN, while being interviewed, Gelinskey told a detective that he was feeling depressed on Tuesday. Allegedly, he felt an "urge" to kill both of his parents, as per the complaint. The complaint also alleges that Gelinskey had taken his brother's anxiety medication. On the night of the alleged murder, Gelinskey allegedly took approximately nine anxiety pills.
The complaint alleges that Gelinskey had planned to murder his father with a hammer after he came home. However, he was unable to find one that was large enough. After he had dinner, Gelisnkey revealed to the detective that Suzanne, his mother, was sitting on the couch, using her personal computer.
Then, he started watching TV. It was then that he started watching the Netflix documentary, The Menendez Brothers. "Gelinskey stated he then developed the plan to kill his parents. He stated it came to him while he watched the 'shotgun scene,'" the complaint reads. Back on August 20, 1989, Lyle and Erik Menéndez shot their parents multiple times with shotguns, brutally killing them both.
At around 9:50 p.m., according to the complaint, Suzanne went upstairs and Gelinskey hid his sleeping medication while grabbing a steak knife. With the knife in his pocket and a dumbbell in one of his sweatshirt's sleeves, he told his mother his medication was missing.
Alleged Murderer
With her back against Gelinskey, the complaint alleges that Gelinskey hit her twice in the head with the dumbbell. Gelinskey then allegedly threw her to the ground. While his mother fought for her life, he allegedly stabbed her three times in the chest and twice in the neck. Gelinskey told the detective that her mother asked him, "Why?" He replied with an eerie "Pain," as per the complaint.
Reed Gelinskey was charged with first-degree murder on Thursday, March 6. He was charged and will be tried as an adult, according to WISN. His bond was set at $1 million.
"This was an extremely violent, but planned offense," Patricia Hanson, Racine County District Attorney, said in court. "It's dangerous in its nature. His original plan was not just for the one victim, but two."
