13-Year-Old Accused Of Killing Mom And Setting House On Fire

A 13-year-old English girl has been charged with the murder of a woman as well as for setting her house on fire. The arrest came shortly after the body of the 43-year-old mother-of-three, Marta Mednarczyk, was found inside the burning home. An investigation revealed that Mednarczyk died after suffering an injury with a sharp object or weapon.

According to a press release issued by Northamptonshire Police, the incident took place at a Wellingborough home, located in Newcomen Road. Both police and firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday, March 10. They were responding to several fire reports on the property.

Once inside the home, they found the body of a woman. While authorities have not formally identified the victim, they believe that Marta Mednarczyk tragically died inside the house. Paramedics declared who is believed to be Mednarczyk dead at 3:29 a.m.

A post-mortem investigation determined that Mednarczyk's preliminary cause of death "as being a result of sharp force injury." As per Medscapem, these injuries are characterized by a "well-defined traumatic separation of tissues." This is caused by a sharp-edged or pointed object. No further details about the injury have been revealed. However, three specific subtypes are mentioned by the site: stab wounds, incised wounds, and chop wounds.

Girl Arrested

Shortly after the body of Marta Mednarczyk was found inside the burning home, police arrested the 13-year-old girl. She was charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life. For legal reasons, she cannot be named. It is unclear whether the girl was Mednarczyk's daughter, if the woman's children were present at the time of the alleged murder, or what the location of the 13-year-old girl was at the time of her arrest.

Detective Chief Insp Johnny Campbell from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit addressed the incident.

"I want to take a moment to thank the many police officers and staff who are working and continue to work tirelessly on this investigation since the very tragic events of early yesterday morning. And, in particular, all our thoughts are with Marta's family, who have been fully cooperative throughout what has been a devastating couple of days for them."

Bednarczyk's family talked dearly about her, saying that her loss will "haunt them forever." "She was so loved by all of us, and the tragic circumstances in which she died will haunt us forever," the family said, as per ITV. "We don't think we will ever come to terms with it."
