According to KPRC 2, they took the unidentified boy into custody and charged him with murder. He also managed to injure a mom who was holding her baby at the playground. The shooter and victim both attended Baytown Junior Middle School together and never got along.

13-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shoots Classmate At Playground After Argument

Zachary's death has broken the hearts of her family, especially her grandmother, Sonya Stanford. "I'm not angry with you, I'm not upset with you," said Stanford. "But I want you to know that I forgive you as of tonight and I put you into the hands of the Lord."

Stanford also revealed that her grandchild and the boy didn't get along, although her daughter never bullied him. "I asked Perez did Naya bully the little boy on the bus, she said no, but they never did get along," she said.

Things got out of hand after they argued on the bus. "Her and the little boy got into it on the bus, and he got off the bus, he went home, he came back, he went home again. Anaya came in and asked me, 'Tia, can I go outside?'"

Soon after, the boy changed into black clothes, put on a black mask, and came to the playground with the weapon. Stanford recalled that he "called my baby's name and he shot my baby four times." Although they rushed her to the hospital, she soon succumbed to her injuries.

Grandmother "Disappointed" In Parents Of Shooter

The grandmother was more upset with the parents of the boy than the shooter himself. "You should have put your weapon up so your 13-year-old son wouldn't have gotten this gun and shot my child," said Stanford. "I am very hurt, I am very disappointed."

The most unfortunate thing is that Stanford would've tried to resolve the situation if she knew about it. "If I knew there was an altercation, me being who I am again, I would've went to the little boy's parents with Anaya to see if we can get this resolved because stuff like this occurs all the time, but this does not make any sense at all," she explained.

Now that the 13-year-old boy is in custody, the police can continue their investigation. Although they should rightfully charge the young boy, the parents should be held accountable as well.
