According to KFDA, Amarillo police arrived at Ferguson's home on November 26, 2024, at N.E. 14th Street. After entering the house and finding Ferguson's lifeless body, they concluded that the scene was suspicious. Therefore, the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit became involved, launching a homicide investigation.
At the time, the only one who lived with Cecilia Ferguson was her grandson, 35-year-old Michael. When investigators initially interviewed him, Michael denied any involvement with his grandmother's death. However, police arrested him anyway, booking him into the Potter County Detention Center. Police charged him with injury to the elderly.
Charged With Murder
One month after Michael's first arrest, following further investigations, Amarillo police upgraded his charge to murder on December 23. A new arrest warrant was issued, and Michael Alexander Ferguson continues to be locked up at Potter County Detention Center.
According to the Daily Mail, Michael Ferguson has served time behind bars previously on similar charges. In 2013, Ferguson spent two years in jail as a result of assaulting two of his relatives. In 2021, he was then arrested for traffic crimes.
No information has been put out by authorities that details the connection between the death of Cecilia Agnes Ferguson and her grandson, Michael. Furthermore, no details surrounding Cecilia's death have been revealed at the moment. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
Cecilia's alleged murder happened a month before another older woman, 83-year-old Holocaust survivor Ludmila Lipovsky was allegedly stabbed to death by a Palestinian terrorist, Ibrahim Shalhoub. Lipovsky was waiting outside her nursing home for her daughter when Shalhoub allegedly attacked her, stabbing her multiple times. Security guards shot Shalhoub, who is in critical condition but were unable to save Lipovsky, with doctors pronouncing her dead at a hospital.
