Zac Brown‘s celebrated music venue in Georgia has closed its doors for good.
The Southern Ground Social Club, located in downtown Senoia, Georgia, unexpected shut down just before the new year. The surprise announcement was made through a message posted on the venue’s Facebook page.
“After a successful four year run, the Southern Ground Social Club will be closing its doors in Senoia, GA. Special thanks to all of our customers, fans and team members who helped us make great food, music and most importantly, provided support for Camp Southern Ground. Southern Ground will continue to create jobs in Georgia, and will be announcing some exciting new ventures in 2016. For information regarding gift cards and other questions, please contact our team at firstname.lastname@example.org.”
The venue’s sister restaurant, La Mesa Del Sur, has also been permanently shut down. The move came as a surprise to many customers who shared their confusion on the venue’s social media pages in the days leading up to the closure. One comment claimed that advertisements for New Year’s Eve events were removed without any explanation. Other customers say their attempts to call the venue and restaurant were simply ignored.
According to the Newnan Times-Herald, proceeds from both businesses went toward funding Brown’s Camp Southern Ground, located in Fayette County. The camp, which is still in development, is meant to be a retreat for at-risk youths, children from military families and those with special needs.
So far, Brown has not issued a public statement about the closings.
