Heather Baird of Sprinkle Bakes changed the breakfast game by baking waffles within a crust of sweet maple cake batter. In order to make this brunch-worthy creation even more epic, she stacked three of these cake-crusted waffles on top of each other before smothering it with even more maple syrup.
Unless you’re really craving a sugar rush, there’s no need to add a layer of frosting to this cake. The maple syrup helps keep the cake moist and super sweet. Of course, you can moderate this by simply limiting or increasing the amount of syrup you use.
If you have a little bit of extra cooking time, Baird recommends wrapping up each layer in plastic wrap for a few hours in order to let the waffle get a softer texture.
