Willie Nelson Recovering from Flu, Says Close Friend

Texas radio personality and country songwriter Bill Mack reassured his Facebook friends that his pal Willie Nelson is on the mend from an apparent bout with the flu.

Nelson scared fans on Sat., Jan. 6 when he stopped an appearance in San Diego during the first song due to reported breathing issues. He cancelled at least three additional shows to recover back home in Texas.

Mack's first post about Nelson's health situation, dated Jan. 9, reveals that additional January shows got cancelled and mentioned that his friend might have the flu.

A more recent post by Mack all but confirmed that a battle with the flu caused Nelson's cancellations. Mack also reassures fans that the 84-year-old country music legend expects to bounce back from his latest health scare in time for his February tour dates.

Nelson's real and false heath scares made headlines in recent years. Last year, Nelson cancelled a few dates in February due to illness. Exaggerated rumors of the Red Headed Stranger's demise popped up again as recently as last August.

Illnesses both true and false haven't diminished Nelson's sense of humor. The singer parodied the public's fixation on his mortality with "Still Not Dead," a tongue-in-cheek cut from 2017 album God's Problem Child.
