Willie Nelson, Sturgill Simpson and More to Play Waylon Jennings Tribute Concert in Austin

A star-studded tribute concert honoring the life and music of Waylon Jennings is set for next month.

Outlaw: Celebrating the Music of Waylon Jennings will be held at the Moody Theatre in Austin, Texas on July 6. Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson, the two remaining Highwaymen, will reunite to pay tribute to their band-mate who passed away in 2002. Other artists set to perform at the event include Toby Keith, Eric Church, Kacey Musgraves, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, Lee Ann Womack, Ryan Bingham, Jamey Johnson, and Billy Joe Shaver. Jennings’ widow, Jessi Colter, and his son, Shooter, will also participate in the tribute.

“Waylon Jennings was my friend, brother and musical soul mate,” Willie Nelson told Rolling Stone of the event. “Playing his songs with these incredible artists is going to be one hell of a concert event.”

Producers Don Was and Buddy Cannon will act as musical directors of the concert, which will be filmed for a future public release.

All proceeds raised from Outlaw: Celebrating the Music of Waylon Jennings‘ after-party will be donated to the United Way to help Texas residents affected by the recent Memorial Day floods.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale June 15 at 10 a.m. CT and can be purchased online or by phone at (877) 987-6487.
