After months of waiting, Whataburger fans will finally get to enjoy the tasty Sweet & Spicy Bacon Burger after a long and painful disappearance from the menu.
The beloved burger chain introduced the sandwich last summer, winning the hearts and stomachs of consumers. After discontinuing the “limited time only” item, fans of the restaurant let their cries be heard, begging the powers that be to bring their new menu favorite back.
To the delight of those who fell in love with the two all-beef patties, bacon, grilled onions, American and Monterey Jack cheese, Whataburger original mustard, sweet & spicy pepper sauce, and five-inch toasted bun burger, the sandwich returned to the menu yesterday for a limited time.
“This combination of ingredients makes a really unique and great tasting burger, and we’re pleased to serve it up again to our fans who’ve been asking us to bring it back,” Whataburger Vice President of Marketing and Innovation Rich Scheffler in a press release.
Whataburger opened its doors in 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas, earning its name when the creator said he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: “What a burger!” Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 790 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $2 billion annually.
