Before he walked on stage for his Shotgun Rider Tour‘s stop in Cleveland on Aug. 1, McGraw sat down with his band for a quick warm-up session. With a huge smile on his face, he begins to sing Anderson’s most recognizable hit, “(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden.” It’s a sweet and heartfelt way to recognize the passing of the multi-award-winning artist who was one of the most successful country singers of the 1970s. Anderson passed away on July 30 after suffering a heart attack. She had been hospitalized at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for a case of pneumonia that developed after a recent trip to Italy.
This short teaser video was posted to the artist’s official Facebook page, but McGraw fans can find a longer version on his official website. McGraw will release a new single, “Top of the World,” later this week.
Lynn Anderson’s funeral services will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton in Nashville on Aug. 5, and will be open to the public.
