Rising Texas duo Smithfield is beginning to gain some serious momentum in the country scene thanks to the success of their single, “Hey Whiskey.” This summer, the duo brought their seamless harmonies to one of the most important stages in country music – the Grand Ole Opry.
Smithfield is comprised of Trey Smith and Jennifer Fiedler, who grew up together in Texas. The duo’s chemistry is undeniable and the lyrics of “Hey Whiskey” are both honest and emotional. The song is an open plea for alcohol to let someone go and an all-to-familiar drunk dial.
“Anxious, excited, I mean, every emotion you can imagine,” Jennifer told Nashville Gab about her pre-show emotions. Once on stage, however, their performance of “Hey Whiskey” perfectly highlighted both Fiedler’s smooth lead vocals and Smith’s killer harmonies.

Congrats to the duo for checking such an important stage off of their musical bucket list. You can tell that both Smith and Fiedler sing from the heart. Perhaps this is because they penned “Hey Whiskey” themselves, along with Adam Wood and Casey Derhak. The tender ballad is available on their self-titled EP, which released last fall, and is currently playing on Sirius XM’s The Highway.
The twosome is hard at work both touring and working on another EP. For more information, visit their official website.
