Watch Rare Footage of Blake Shelton Before He Was Famous

Screengrab via YouTube

In the early 1990s, Blake Shelton was still a complete unknown in the country music world. He was still working hard to hone his craft when he made this appearance on K-10’s “Morning Cup Show” in his hometown of Ada, Oklahoma.

In this simple acoustic performance, Shelton sings his reflective self-penned song entitled “Frame of Mine.” Many die-hard Shelton fans may recognize this as a deep cut from his 2013 chart-topping album, Based On A True Story.

Other than a slightly younger face, Shelton sports the same look as he did nearly 10 years later when he launched onto the country scene with his debut single, “Austin.” Although his voice is quiet and more subdued in this performance, it’s still easy to hear the fierce emotion in his trademark sound, which has helped make him into one of the biggest stars in the genre today.
