Watch a Pint-Sized Thomas Rhett Cover Joe Diffie With His Dad

Thomas Rhett has been winning over fans with his pop-infused brand of country since the release of his debut album in 2013. Before he gained fame on his own, he learned the musical ropes from his talented father and country singer Rhett Akins.

Akins made his way onto the country charts in the mid 1990s with his number one track “Don’t Get Me Started”, and “That Ain’t My Truck”. During this television interview filmed sometime during this important time in Akins’ career, his son stole the spotlight with his own singing talents.

In the clip above, you’ll see a tiny Thomas Rhett performing an adorable duet version of Joe Diffie’s “Third Rock From The Sun” with his father. He happily runs through the lyrics as his dad provides backup vocals and strums along on his acoustic guitar. Although Rhett seems a little nervous, it’s easy to see the talent and charisma that has since made Rhett so popular in mainstream country.
