Luke Bryan infused some country twang into two huge pop hits during a surprise medley at a recent tour stop in Texas.
Earlier this year, Bryan took his Kick the Dust Up tour with Randy Houser and Dustin Lynch to The Alamodome in San Antonio. Over the years, the country star has regularly included cover songs of everyone from Garth Brooks to Adele. This time, he decided to surprise the crowd by taking on two huge pop hits.
In the video above, you’ll see Bryan try out his own version of “Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd. As he strums his acoustic guitar and shows off his falsetto, he gets a wave of excited screams from the crowd. His voice ends up breaking while trying to match The Weeknd’s high-pitched “oohs,” which causes him to chuckle. “I did not get that,” he jokes. “That was awful.”
He quickly recovers by sliding into a groovy rendition of Daft Punk’s 2013 hit, “Get Lucky.” The song’s key is obviously much easier for Bryan to master, but that doesn’t stop him from drifting back into a verse or two of “Can’t Feel My Face.”
Sure, it might not have been a perfect vocal performance from Bryan, but it sure was fun to watch.
