On April 21, the entire world was shocked by the sudden death of iconic pop musician Prince. His music was beloved by millions, and inspired countless musicians across many genres, including country.
That night, Little Big Town performed at the Adams Center in Missoula, Mont. as support for Luke Bryan’s 2016 Kill the Lights Tour. As a way of honoring the irreplaceable musician, the band stood in a purple spotlight to perform his classic track “When Doves Cry.” Check out a clip of the tribute from the group’s Instagram below.
Phillip Sweet’s soulful but solemn lead vocals fill the arena, while Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman and Jimi Westbrook’s harmonies gave the song a truly heavenly sound. The sold-out crowd responded with screams and cheers of approval, proving that Prince’s impact truly transcends any genre barriers.
