Watch Kacey Musgraves' Surreal, Hopeful New Video For 'Space Cowboy'

"Space Cowboy", from Kacey Musgraves' critically acclaimed album Golden Hour, is already considered one of the year's best country songs. Now the singer has released a new video to match the song's somber yet hopeful lyrics.

Filmed in Mexico City and directed by Courtney Phillips, the video features Musgraves spending time alone in a shadowy house. We see glimpses of her partner strolling in and out, as well as an intense argument between the couple before the soon-to-be former flame rides out of town as a watercolor grey sky casts over him. By the end, the darkness surrounding Musgraves gives way to a beam of sunlight, symbolizing the freedom and hope in letting go of a doomed relationship.
