The two country stars put an edgy new spin on the 1972 Neil Young track in the performance-oriented video. Although simplistic, the clip showcases the qualities that make this pair two of the most celebrated artists of their genre.
Clad in all black and masked by their dark-tinted sunglasses, Church and Williams Jr. rock out to the unforgiving track that became a Top 10 hit for Waylon Jennings back in 1976. The high energy feeling that was originally infused by Jennings feels somewhat refreshed in this new version, even though the overall sound sticks to the same somewhat predictable style of country that Williams has been supplying for decades.
This new collaboration with one of the biggest artist in modern country music was released with the hopes of helping jumpstart a new era in 66-year-old Williams Jr.’s longstanding career.
“Are You Ready for the Country” is the lead single off of Williams Jr.’s new album It’s About Time, which is scheduled for release on January 15. The highly-anticipated album features additional guest appearances from Brad Paisley, Brantley Gilbert and Justin Moore.
