The heartbreaking duet is featured on Henley’s new country album Cass County, which debuted at number one on the country charts in September. Although he’s best known for his work with the Eagles, Henley has been regularly contributing to the country scene for decades. Back in 1992, he collaborated with Yearwood for the first time on her memorable hit, “Walkaway Joe”. 23 years later, it’s clear that their on-stage chemistry is as strong as ever.
In the clip above, you’ll see the two seasoned performers channel immense emotion into the song, which speaks of a relationship that’s too damaged to repair. Although the track is a heavy one, the intense subject matter didn’t prevent a few smiles from coming over the two friend’s faces as they enjoyed their time onstage with one another.
Don Henley’s episode of Austin City Limits, which premieres Oct. 24 on PBS, will also feature special appearances by Martina McBride, Ashley Monroe, Dixie Chicks members Martie Maguire and Emily Robison Straye and Jamey Johnson.
