One brave farmer took matters into his own hands by hopping on his tractor to help stop a raging wildfire.
In the video below, posted in 2013, you’ll see Eric Howard, a fearless farm owner, as he does his part to help firefighters try to stop a fire that’s tearing through a hayfield in Weld County, Colo. Howard did his part by using his John Deere tractor to pave a fire line to help stop the flames from spreading.
Fire lines create a gap in the crops where the fire can’t burn any vegetation, slowing down it’s spread.

Thanks to his quick thinking, Howard helped firefighters save 50 acres of the 80-acre field from burning, and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby homes and farms. His unforgettable efforts have now made him into a true small town hero.
