Taylor Swift has been taking her theatrical 1989 World Tour to venues across the country since May. She’s been using her seemingly endless list of notable friends to surprise her fans each night by bringing out special guests for one-night-only collaborations. She’s already returned to her country roots by bringing out Little Big Town and Sam Hunt earlier this summer. On Sept. 16, fans in Indianapolis got another quick taste of country during her pop-oriented concert.
Before introducing her special guests to the crowd, Swift took a moment to acknowledge her musical past. “Something I’m very proud of is that I came up in country music — really proud of it — and I still am such a huge fan of country music, and, in my opinion, the people I’m about to bring out are some of best musicians, some of the best things we’ve got going in country music,” Swift said to the crowd. “They have won Grammys and CMAs and ACMs; they are unbelievable. Country music is all about family.”
Moments later, The Band Perry emerged onstage to a wave of cheers from excited fans. They performed an energetic rendition of their 2010 hit, with Swift providing harmonies and jumping in on the second verse.
