Emerging country artist Aubrie Sellers stopped by the Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night to perform “Light of Day” off her debut album, New City Blues, which dropped today (Jan. 29).
You may recognize Sellers’ voice. She’s the daughter of country great Lee Ann Womack. The similarity between her voice and her mom’s is unmistakable, but Sellers brings something totally fresh to the table.
She calls her music “Garage Country”, a nod to the dirty, electrified tones of garage rock. It’s an edgy, rock-leaning take on rootsy country music.
2016 is shaping up to be a big year for Sellers. She’s kicked off the year with her debut at the Grand Ole Opry, a new album and a supporting tour in the works. You can expect to see more of her, as edgier country like hers is gaining more popular in the mainstream. You can read more about bout Sellers’ music and her career in her own words in our exclusive interview with the singer.
