Ron Lester, best known for his role as Billy Bob in Varsity Blues, died in a Dallas hospital on Friday evening. He was 45.
The actor had been in the hospital for four months, battling both liver and kidney issues. He spoke publicly about his battle back in November through social media.

Lester rose to fame for his role as Billy Bob in the 1999 film Varsity Blues, which explores high school football culture in Texas.
He had battled with weight for most of his life, once weighing in at over 500 pounds. After gastric bypass surgery in 2000, Lester eventually lost and kept off around 350 pounds.
Lester has stayed active in both acting and comedy. Back in October he became engaged to girlfriend Jennifer Worland.
