Usher Covers Blake Shelton’s Hit “Neon Light” with an R&B Twist

Usher and Shelton are extremely successful in very different musical genres, but these friends prove good music has no boundaries.

Blake Shelton and Usher co-headlined the 90th Anniversary Celebration for the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas at the AT&T Stadium on Feb. 6. During his performance, Usher sang his version of Shelton’s number one hit, “Neon Light.”

Usher’s soulful, fluid vocals turned Shelton’s fun breakup tune into an emotional ballad. When the song ended, Usher asked the audience, “How’d I do?” The crowd answered with cheers and applause, and Usher grinned and spun around on his heels. Shelton co-headlined the fundraising event, but he did not join his “The Voice” cohort on stage for the song.

They did team up, however, “Home”, another song Shelton took to the number one spot on the country charts. The song is a cover of Michael Bublé’s 2005 hit.
