A central Kentucky family received a very unique surprise in the newest bundle of joy on their farm. Stan McCubbin of Campbellsville first thought he was welcoming twin calves to the world. Instead, he was welcoming something rare – a two-faced calf he now calls Lucky.
Lucky came into the world with two heads attached to only one body and is facing many challenges. She has four eyes, but the middle two are not functional. Standing and walking is hard for Lucky because her head is so heavy. She can only turn in circles before she falls down.
Thankfully, Lucky is still able to eat, although both mouths move simultaneously when she’s being bottle-fed. The McCubbin family says Lucky has no idea she isn’t like other calves. Stan’s wife, Brandy, told the The Dodo that is exactly how they plan to treat her.
“My husband and I have been raised on farms our whole lives and we are treating Lucky like any other calf we have had to bottle-feed,” McCubbin said. “Things are just a little different and unique!”
She isn’t suffering, but McCubbin isn’t sure how much time Lucky has left. While she’s with them though, the family is going to do everything they can to give Lucky a happy life.
