Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman came out of retirement to help one lucky high schooler snag the homecoming date of his dreams.
Irving resident Jack Corrigan goes to Cistercian Preparatory School, and had something special in mind for homecoming. He wanted to ask Cayli Lucia, who he had met at a party, but wanted to do something special. The sophomore had the idea to recruit a Dallas Cowboy player to help him out. Since most of them are busy with football season, he opted to contact a retiree.
With a little help from his mom, Corrigan was able to pass on his request to Aikman. A few days later, Lucia was shocked to find Corrigan and Aikman holding a sign asking her for a date.
“I opened the door and here he is with this giant flag of a poster asking me to homecoming,” Lucia told Fox4. “And of course I was excited. I already couldn’t speak, and then I turned slightly to my left – there’s Troy Aikman! Oh my gosh, I lost it.”
So did Lucia say yes? Of course! But really, how could anyone say no to a proposal like that? Here’s to Aikman and the cute couple, who are sure to have a homecoming to remember.
