This summer Tim McGraw will perform a special concert to the benefit the nonprofit organization Sandy Hook Promise.
All of the proceeds from the concert will benefit Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit led by family members of the victims of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. Sandy Hook Promise seeks to protect children from gun violence and prevent future tragedies by supporting and creating gun safety programs.
“Out of this tragedy a group was formed that made a promise to honor the lives lost and turn it into a moment of transformation,” McGraw said in a statement. “Sandy Hook Promise teaches that we can do something to protect our children from gun violence. I want to be a part of that promise – as a father and as a friend.”
McGraw’s fiddle player, Dean Brown, is a friend of Mark Bowden, who’s son, Daniel Bowden, was killed in the shooting.
“I look forward to being a part of a night of hope and promise and music that will help continue the great work that Sandy Hook Promise is doing,” said Brown.
The concert is set for July 17 at the XFINITY Theatre in Hartford, Conn. Tickets go on sale at 10 am on Friday and are available through Ticketmaster.
Special guests include Billy Currington, Chase Bryant and a few surprise guests that will be announced at a later date.
