Louisiana native Tim McGraw is rallying his fans to help those affected by the devastating floods in his home state.
Earlier this week, the country star shared a video message to his followers through his social media pages. In the black and white clip, he asks fans to do what they can to help victims of this month’s record-breaking flooding.
“My home State of Louisiana has suffered a great tragedy with all the recent flooding,” McGraw shared through a statement posted on his website. “So many people’s lives have been disrupted and the recovery is just beginning. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected. I’m calling on everyone to pull together and help out with the relief efforts that are underway. There are so many ways to support — from volunteering to donating to the many great organizations such as the Baton Rouge Area Foundation or the Second Harvest Foodbank. The road to recovery will be long but know Louisiana that we will be there for you.”
McGraw is just the latest musician to try and raise awareness for the floods that have left thousands with damaged homes. Former The Voice contestant Meghan Linsey launched a GoFundMe page with the hopes of raising $100,000 for victims of the disaster.
Garth Brooks shared his support through his social media accounts, and asked fans to consider donating to the American Red Cross or Salvation Army. Country star turned pop queen Taylor Swift also donated a staggering $1 million toward recovery efforts.
