It’s hard to believe that the last episode of the Texas-based TV series Friday Night Lights aired in 2011, meaning it has been five long years since we’ve heard Coach Taylor utter our favorite motivational phrase: “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.”
While the series’ end in 2011 left fans everywhere experiencing severe Tim Riggins withdrawal and a burning desire to move to the fictional town of Dillon, Texas, the cast of FNL has grown up and moved on from Panthers football to pursue other adventures.
Here’s a look at what members of the original cast are up to today.
1. Coach Taylor // Kyle Chandler
Kyle Chandler most recently starred in the Netflix series Bloodline, which came after his big screen appearances in Super 8, Argo and The Wolf of Wall Street. Here’s to hoping he still wears his Panthers state champion rings.
2. Jason Street // Scott Porter
After starring in CBS’s The Good Wife and alongside Rachel Bilson in the CW series Hart of Dixie, Scott Porter most recently lent his voice to Lego Marvel’s Avengers video game for the character Ulysses Klaue. He made it clear his love for Lyla was gone when he wed in 2013 and now enjoys his days as a dad to his son McCoy.
3. Tami Taylor // Connie Britton
Tami Taylor remains unstoppable as ever. Since her days defining #MomGoals in Texas, Connie Britton has adopted a son of her own and been nominated for Emmy awards for both her roles in American Horror Story and the ABC drama Nashville.
4. Tim Riggins // Taylor Kitsch
After years of being TV’s favorite shirtless, troubled high school student, Taylor Kitsch moved on to the big screen and landed a lead role in the fantasy film John Carter. Most recently he appeared in the crime drama True Detective.
5. Tyra Collette // Adrianne Palicki
Adrianne traded ditching class in Dillon for a spot in the cast of the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Before Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, she appeared in the movie G.I. Joe Retaliation.
6. Julie Taylor // Aimee Teegarden
Instead of cuddling with QB1, Aimee Teegarden now spends her time documenting her travels and DIY projects on Instagram. The 26-year-old also starred in the CW’s Star-Crossed and Demi Lovato’s “Made in the USA” music video.
7. Matt Saracen // Zach Gilford
As much as we’d like to say that Matt & Julie wed in real life, Zach Gilford married actress Kiele Sanchez in 2012. Since his Dillon days, he has also starred in a TSwift music video and appeared in the 2016 TV series The Family.
8. Smash Williams // Gaius Charles
Gains Charles’ days of “smash-ing” his competition on the football field are over but the 32-year-old was able to land a recurring role in of Grey’s Anatomy after FNL. Charles also earned a degree in Theology.
9. Lyla Garrity // Mika Kelly
Since leaving FNL, Minka Kelly starred in NBC’s Parenthood and thriller film The Roommate. She never lost Lyla Garrity’s cheerleader good looks; Kelly was named Esquire’s sexiest woman alive in 2010. Now the 35-year-old spends her time working with FashionABLE, a company that helps build sustainable business in Africa.
10. Landry Clarke // Jesse Plemons
Jesse Plemons’ cool points skyrocketed when he landed Tyra Collette as a girlfriend at Dillon High. Since then, his awesomeness has earned him starring roles in the award-winning AMC show Breaking Bad and TV series Fargo.
