This Canadian Fair Food Is Giving America a Run for Its Money

Each year in Toronto, the Canadian National Exhibition showcases some of the craziest and most indulgent foods in existence.

75 years ago, the ice cream waffle was first made available to hungry consumers. Its popularity created a jump in creative options from vendors at the massive exhibition, which spans 18 days and covers 192 acres. The event has become known for its outrageous treats that give American fair food a run for its money.

Although the exhibition does provide expected food options, like fried Oreos and funnel cakes, many vendors aren’t afraid to take things to the next level. This year, coffee and doughnut flavored milkshakes are available for those who wanted a sweet alternative to breakfast. Visitors can also try a “Biggie in a Blanket”, which combines bacon, sausage, eggs, and cream cheese inside of a pancake topped with maple syrup.

For those who don’t want to get their hands dirty while stuffing their faces, these chicken and waffles on a stick are a must-try.

For bacon lovers, there were plenty of insane culinary creations to enjoy. The craziest of them all was this bacon-wrapped grilled cheese, which was indeed completely encapsulated in my favorite greasy meat product.

Needless to say, if you’re an adventurous food lover and aren’t afraid to sacrifice your health for some good eats, you may want to visit the Canadian National Exhibition in 2016.
