The Cadillac Three will soon be welcoming a new honorary member to the band. Singer-songwriter Jaren Johnston and his wife Evyn will welcome their first child in April 2017.
Johnston made the announcement on Oct. 14 before performing “White Lightning” to a sold out crowd at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The band is currently on tour with Florida Georgia Line for their Dig Your Roots tour.
“Evyn and I have been together for 15 years. We’ve been through so much together but nothing has ever been as exciting as expecting our first baby,” Johnston happily told the crowd. “We can’t wait to meet this little bad ass in April!”
Fittingly, “White Lightning” is about Johnston’s now expectant wife and is featured on The Cadillac Three’s sophomore album Bury Me In Boots. If you listen carefully, the song tells the story about the day the couple first met.
“I fell fast and hard. I remember thinking it was kind of like being struck by lightning. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I got the shakes the first time I saw her,” Jaren first said in an interview with ET. “When I wrote ‘White Lightning,’ I sat down and put that experience into this song the best way I could.”
Jaren and Evyn married back in October 2013 during a rustic inspired wedding in Evyn’s parents’ back yard.
Both Johnston and The Cadillac Three will have their hands full even before the baby’s arrival. A full schedule of tour dates fill up their time at least until the end of the year. They’ll be back in Tennessee on October 26 with Little Big Town for Band Against Cancer before they head off to do a few shows overseas.
Congratulations to Jaren and his wife! We can’t wait for the little bad ass to arrive either.
