Texas Woman Who Sold House-Trained Bison Now Teaches Horses to Eat Inside

Photo: The Dallas Morning News

Back in May, we reported on Karen Schoeve, the Texas woman who sold house-trained bison. Well, she’s at it again. This time, Karen trained four of her sweet horses to come inside and gather around the table for a nice family meal.

And just in time for Thanksgiving, it appears!

Schoeve told the Dallas Morning News that after her experience with the friendly housebroken bison, several of her horses showed interest in coming inside too. Deuteronomy and Jigsaw showed the first interest. They didn’t need much coaxing. Then, Shoeve brought in BamBam and Blackjack with the help of horse trainer Alley Penshorn. The four fellas gathered round the table and munched on a full offering of delectable horse goodies, such as lettuce, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes and celery. The appaloosa ponies even learned to go downstairs, an impressive feat for any four-legged friend.

Unlike with the bison, Schoeve has no plans to sell any of the smarty pants horses. Of course, horses don’t make the most polite dinner guests anyways. Their table manners leave something to be desired. (Talk about chewing with your mouth open).

But still, they provide a great subject to talk about at Thanksgiving dinner other than what’s going on in today’s world. Or whose team sucks more. And though they live in Argyle, Texas, we imagine they’re probably all Denver Broncos fans.
