An unforgettable act of holiday kindness recently brought one Texas waitress to her knees. Chastity Rodriguez said it was a normal Saturday shift at the Luby’s last week. That is, until a random stranger changed everything.
An unassuming woman in a ball cap sat in her section, eating a simple plate of beans, yams and cornbread. Rodriguez says she checked on the woman several times, refilling her drink and giving her a to-go cup. The woman left a few coins on the table, which Rodriguez assumed were her tip.
Then, when she got up to leave, the woman handed Rodriguez an envelope. “I fell to my knees and I started crying,” Rodriguez told ABC News. “I couldn’t believe it.”
Inside, a typed note read “This is for you in your time of need. God bless you.” The envelope contained $1,000 cash. Rodriguez says before the gift, she didn’t know how she’d pay that month’s bills. She currently raises her 8-year-old granddaughter.

“I’ve been praying a lot,” Rodriguez continued. “We’ve been going through a lot of things. This really helped out.” Rodriguez never found out who the woman was. But she thanked the stranger, whoever she was. “She is a real angel,” Rodgriguez says.
Don’t you just love good stories? Since the holiday season arrived, stories of random acts of kindness keep pouring in. And since restaurant workers often unfairly bare the brunt of a customer’s ire, it’s nice to see deserving people receive these generous blessings from strangers.
