Texas Mom Risks It All to Save Her Kids During a Tornado

A Texas mom risked her own life to save her children when a tornado picked up their mobile home in Van Vleck, Texas on Tuesday night (Feb. 14).

The tornado ripped through the town southwest of Houston and took Ashlie Ovesny's mobile home with it. According to ABC 30, the storm picked up the house with Ovesny and her two young children inside. That's when the mom put her own life on the line to make sure her kids would be okay.

"She grabbed the kids as the house started to move, and she held them to her chest as the house tumbled," Anthony Ovesny, Ashlie's husband, explained. "She took the brunt of everything... ended up on top of the kids, but everything hit her and her back. All the TVs, the cabinets, couch - everything flipped on top of her."

Thanks to Ashlie's incredible efforts, their one-year-old and three-year-old left the home with only scratches. Ashlie wasn't as lucky. She had fractures to her spine and neck injuries and was flown to the hospital for surgery. The brave mom is expected to recover but unfortunately the family lost everything. Everything except for their two beautiful children.

"Thank God for a mother's love," Anthony gushed.

Ashlie's family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for their recovery. Click here to make a donation.
