Suzy Bogguss burst onto the country scene 25 years ago with her 1991 album, Aces. The platinum-selling record made Bogguss one of the fastest rising stars of the early 90s neo-traditional movement.
The album’s four singles, “Someday Soon,” “Outbound Plane,” “Aces” and “Letting Go,” have remained staples in Bogguss’ sets. Now, Bogguss is revisiting the beloved tunes. To celebrate the anniversary of Aces, Bogguss re-recorded the 10-song album for a project titled Aces Redux. The re-worked songs reflect the singer’s growth as a performer while still maintaining the magic of the original recordings.
“The songs are timeless, but over the past 25 years I feel like I’ve grown as a vocalist, and when we started recording Aces Redux I got so excited because these songs took on a whole new life that is more representative of who I am and what I do now,” Bogguss told MusicRow magazine.
Bogguss, who got her start singing at Dollywood, performed “Someday Soon” on Jerry Jeff Walker’s The Texas Connection back in 1991.
Bogguss will play Aces Redux in its entirety at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville at 8 p.m. on Aug. 18, the day of its release. She’ll follow the set with songs from her latest albums Lucky and American Folk Songbook.
