Everything really is bigger in Texas – even the real estate.
This somewhat ridiculous mansion located in Austin features a little too much of everything. Listed earlier this year for the totally reasonable price of $14.8 million, this southern mansion features every extravagance you can imagine.
As soon as you walk through the front door, you’re greeted by an overwhelming amount of gold accents – and this is just the beginning.
Yep, the dining room has also been covered with all gold everything. Even the ceiling is painted a rather unappealing shade to match the overly-extravagant decor.
This parlor thankfully reels the gold in just a little bit, but still manages to push the envelope a little too far. It seems like the design team flipped through that “Versailles” coffee table book a bit too many times before throwing this look together.
If you were hoping for a completely different look in the bedroom, congratulations! Sadly, I can’t say this scheme is much better than the rest. Instead of a cozy place to rest your head, this looks like a design pulled straight out of a Hard Rock Casino gift shop.
While pretty much everyone enjoys a big bathroom, this one seems like a waste of space. Does anyone really need to take a nap in the middle of their bathroom? Is there even a toilet in here?
There’s plenty of space for the guys to hang, too, if you couldn’t tell from the overtly-masculine furniture choices.
The best part of this house by far is the pool, which has a beautiful view and seems like a nice enough retreat, aside from the built-in bar and rather gaudy gazebo topper.
Everyone has their own style when it comes to design, and this home is far from the worst out there. Still, it’s a good example of what happens when someone tries a little too hard to show off their wealth.
