Austin, Texas will be the backdrop to one of the most anticipated films of 2017.
Song to Song (formerly known as Weightless) is the latest feature film from famed director and Austin native Terrence Malick.
According to IndieWire, the premise is a "modern love story set against the Austin, Texas music scene" that is centered around two couples. Two struggling songwriters Faye (played by Rooney Mara) and BV (Ryan Gosling) and "music mogul" Cook (Michael Fassbender), along with his waitress girlfriend (Natalie Portman), explore their rocky, rock and roll-centered relationships. The film also features scenes shot during the Austin-based Fun Fun Fun Festival in 2012.
Song to Song has been one of the most intriguing films under production ever since its initial announcement in 2011. Although the film has a star-studded cast, which includes appearances from artists like Patti Smith and Iggy Pop, exact details of the film still mostly remain a mystery.

Regardless of how the movie turns out, it's exciting to see Austin get some much deserved time on the big screen.
