Upstate New York has long been a hotbed for roots music. The Band wrote and recorded some of their greatest records there. Bob Dylan did, too. Today, the region is still producing impressive Americana talent, like the four-piece outfit Driftwood. Originally from Binghamton, N.Y., the group uses old-time instruments to channel a vibrant blend of folk, bluegrass, country, rock and punk music.
Today we’re premiering “Talkin’,” a fleet-footed track from their upcoming album, City Lights. Founding member and singer Claire Byrne describes it as “a song about falling in love and the ways in which it affects a person.”
“These are thoughts and feelings of someone floating through life with a new person,” says Byrne. The song is warm, upbeat and totally captures that I-just-fell-in-love-with-someone feeling. When this one kicks into the chorus, you’ll be bopping your head up and down.
