Chancey Williams

Song Premiere: Chancey Williams, 'Tin Roof'

Aside from Chris LeDoux, only one other artist has ever competed in the rodeo and performed at Cheyenne Frontier Days, one of the nation's premiere country music events. That man is Chancey Williams, a rising singer and former rodeo rider from Wyoming.

Growing up on ranch, Williams has lived and breathed the Western lifestyle. Before throwing his hat into the country music ring, he worked as a saddle bronc rider — a job that only draws a special breed.

As a musician, his cowboy upbringing and authentic Western life experiences have shaped his music. In recent years, he's been on the road with his band The Younger Brothers. They've opened for several notable acts including Aaron Watson and Chris LeDoux. Like LeDoux's music, theirs is a little country and a little rock-and-roll.

On Friday (May 19) Williams and The Younger Brothers release their new album, Rodeo Cold Beer. Today, we're giving Wide Open Country readers an exclusive first listen to "Tin Roof." Williams co-wrote the song with fellow country artist Trent Willmon.

"'Tin Roof' was the first song I wrote with Willmon and when we were working on it, I realized Trent was the kind of songwriter I had been looking to collaborate with," Williams tells Wide Open Country. "He really understands what I am all about as an artist.  We also wrote the title track, 'Rodeo Cold Beer', together.  These two songs, in particular, represent where I'm headed with my music."
