The Lower Colorado River Authority opened the floodgates on Austin’s Mansfield dam on Monday morning.
This was the first time the LCRA has opened the Lake Travis dam since 2007. The recent heavy rains have filled up Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan past more than they can hold.
Here’s another video from LCRA’s Facebook page. Scroll through the feed to see the release.
This is all good news, considering Lake Travis was near barren just a couple years ago. The LCRA has released water from all six highland lakes through hydroelectric generation. This was the fifth dam to release water.
