Dave Engledow–father, photographer, creative genius–chronicles his daughter’s childhood with these touching and hilarious portraits.
Dave Engledow knew he wanted to do something different when his daughter, Alice Bee, was born. He wanted to document her childhood, but refused to plaster the typical cutesy baby photos across Facebook. Instead he was drawn to the concept of satirizing the entire idea of poignant baby photos.
He also originally didn’t plan on including himself in the photos. But: “I was inspired (probably due to lack of sleep) to portray what new fatherhood felt like to me at the time—I wanted to show the cluelessness and exhaustion felt as a new father, while poking fun at myself,” Mr. Engledow explained in an interview to promote his book, Confessions of the World’s Best Father.
The result? Well, just take a look. Mr. Engledow has Alice Bee ranching cats, participating in the notorious deflategate, and crawling out of TVs. And he’s quick with a quip as well. All of the captions are his, accompanying his photos on his Facebook page.
Mr. Engledow may just live up to his coffee mug.
