Sam Hunt Tops Country Nominations for 2015 American Music Awards

After a record-breaking year, Sam Hunt has one more career achievement to add to his list: more American Music Awards nominations than any other country act this year.

Hunt gained nominations for the all-genre New Artist of the Year award, alongside Luke Bryan, as well as the Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Album award. Hunt narrowly beat out Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line, who each earned two nominations. It seems like a safe bet that Hunt will walk away with at least one award, thanks to his major crossover appeal.

Miranda LambertCarrie Underwood and newcomer Kelsea Ballerini will also battle it out in a close race for Favorite Female Country Artist. Former country favorite Taylor Swift earned more nominations than any other artist this year, gaining six nods thanks to her massive pop album 1989.

The winners are chosen by online fan voting at AMAvote.com. If you don’t want to see Swift shut-out Luke Bryan for Artist of the Year, you better cast your votes early and often.

The 2015 American Music Awards, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, will be broadcast live on ABC from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on Nov. 22. Read on to see the full list of country nominees.
