2015 was an incredible year for Sam Hunt, the former football star who most certainly thanks his lucky stars each and every day that he put down that pigskin to pick up a guitar.
His debut album, Montevallo is the top country album of 2015, according to Billboard’s year-end charts. Hunt co-wrote the album’s 10 tracks, two of which appear in the Top 5 of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. “Take Your Time” tops the Hot Country Songs chart and “House Party” sits comfortably at No. 3.
Hunt fell short of the top spot for Top Country Artists of 2015 — Luke Bryan grabbed that distinction — but he also appears in an array of other categories, including Top New Artists and Digital Songs. The prominent spots on these charts should come as no surprise. Since the release of “Leave The Night On” in 2014 Sam’s success has only continued to rise.
Montevallo sold 70,000 copies its first week, helping it debut at No. 1, and has yielded three chart-topping singles so far. “Break Up In A Small Town” is the fourth single off the album, and it continues to climb.
Earlier this year to celebrate his success, Hunt performed an impromptu performance in the streets of Nashville. Hunt thanked his fans for all of their support, which is sure to follow him into the new year.
